I already have a merchant account for a chip-and-pin machine - can I use this to trade online or via mail/telephone?
Every merchant account is set up to be able to handle specific types of transactions. A merchant number that is being used by a chip-and-pin machine can not be used for trading online or via mail order/telephone order (MOTO), as these merchant numbers can only be used for accepting transactions in a face-to-face environment.
If you have an existing relationship with one of the UK merchant banks we work with, it is likely that they will be able to organise a merchant account for e-commerce (online) or mail/telephone trading.
