A poor victim unknowingly barking like a dog or rolling around on the floor whilst a stage hypnotist looms over them, controlling their every move. However, far from the stage, hypnosis holds a place in modern medicine. Michael Mahoney, director of Healthy Audio tells us all about his online business…
Healthy Audio Limited is an organisation established to provide recorded clinical hypnotherapy sessions as an addition to conventional medical care for many health conditions. Established in 1996, the company was originally Sage Pay customer Michael Mahoney explains how his fraud prevention tools have stopped online fraud on his accountcreated to provide help and support for patients diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Eventually patient demand resulted in the therapeutic sessions and documentation being made available for purchase. “After several years refining the technique the program was recorded, and in 1999 the IBS Audio Program 100® was launched” explains Michael.
Though initially focusing solely on IBS patients, the success of private sessions and ongoing development, meant that the company soon added new target areas – such as smoking cessation, emotional aspects of cancer recovery, and most recently, coping with redundancy, which was borne out of the increasing numbers of private patients experiencing the result of economic downturn.
“I first heard about Sage Pay at a UK Trade and Investment service called Passport to Export which is a five-day event helping small companies understand the export market. A module of the course focused on the importance of website, online sales and payment gateways. Sage Pay was one of the companies recommended as a payment provider” recalls Michael.
Several years later, Healthy Audio were looking to upgrade their website, which at that time was using simple order form and a PDQ machine to process orders, they contacted Sage Pay after a second recommendation from their web developer.
Michael recalls, “The sales team were very helpful and patient in giving me the information I needed to integrate the solution. We have used some of the fraud prevention tools available and have fortunately not experienced any fraud on our account”.
