What do I need to know about Solo card deactivation?

When are Solo cards being deactivated?

Currently, the date being given for the deactivation of Solo cards is 31 March 2011.

Are all Solo cards being deactivated?

Current information from the bank indicates that there are two BIN range exceptions for UK Maestro Prepaid cards for Clydesdale Bank. All other Solo cards will be deactivated.  If you need more information about this, we recommend that you contact your acquiring bank directly.

Do I need to make any changes to my Sage Pay integration for the Solo card deactivation?

Sage Pay will make all of the background technical changes, however there may be some changes you'll need to make depending on how you've integrated Sage Pay (see below). It‘s being advised that you should make any changes by 31 March 2011.

Repeat Solo card payments

If you're currently processing repeat transactions with Solo cards, these customers will need to provide you with an alternative card.

Refunding Solo card payments

After the 31 March 2011 you won't be able to perform Solo refunds.

Sage Pay standard payment pages

If you're using Form or Server integration, Sage Pay will complete the necessary changes to the gateway in order to automatically remove the Solo card type from the Test and Live standard payment page template. (See below for Direct integration)

Custom payment pages

Sage Pay will complete the necessary changes for custom payment pages, however, if the Solo card has been hard coded into your custom templates, you will need to email us an updated template as soon as possible.

Websites using Direct integration

If you're using Direct Integration you'll need to amend your payment page so that Solo is no longer available as a payment option.

If you also validate BIN ranges, then you'll need to remove the following ranges for Solo:

676703 – 676799

However, two BINs in the 6767xx range have been allocated to Maestro cards. These BINs are:

  • 676770
  • 676774
Authenticate/Authorise & Deferred/Release:

If your transactions are being submitting using Authenticate or Deferred then you will need to collect your payment through Authorise or Release by 31 March 2011.

Where can I get more information about the changes to Maestro and the deactivation of the Solo Card?

For more detail about how these changes affect you, we recommend that you contact your acquiring bank.
