Sage Pay offers payment processing deal to 100,000 online businesses
Sage Pay joins Google, e-skills UK and BT to help small businesses get up and running online.
Sage Pay, the UK’s leading payment service provider has signed up as an official partner of the Getting British Business Online scheme (GBBO). The scheme is an initiative set up by Google, e-skills UK, BT and others to get 100,000 businesses trading online by the end of 2010. The scheme has already made great progress with over 5,000 websites created since its launch.
Sage Pay is the most recent business to join the scheme and is offering 3 months free online processing to any business that signs up under the GBBO initiative. As a supporter of start up businesses, Sage Pay will also be running Start Up Clinics at this year’s Internet World 2010 to help businesses make the transition into the online space. With currently 1.5 million businesses without a website, Sage Pay want to make the process as simple as possible. Their inclusive Merchant Services and processing package means they are able to support start-ups all the way through the process. A recent report undertaken by Sage Pay showed that almost 30% of businesses surveyed were looking to invest in their online business in 2010, proving the growth of the ecommerce market.
Businesses that sign up to GBBO will be given a free .co.uk web address that will be automatically registered in Google’s search engine and a new ‘wizard’ tool that will help them create a website in 20 minutes.
“At Sage Pay we want to help champion these start up businesses. It’s vital that small businesses get the support and motivation they need to trade online and an obvious part of that is enabling their customers to pay them in a simple and secure way” says Sage Pay’s Managing Director Simon Black.
Sage Pay's presence at this year’s Internet World coincides with the launch of their E-Business Benchmark Report. Over 2000 ecommerce businesses gave their input to compile a ‘business bible’, containing statistics on issues such as Payment Card Industry compliance, SEO searches and Fraud allowing online traders to benchmark their business.
